Teaching
The classroom
For three decades Quddusia Azam taught English to schoolchildren. She began in 1992 with a prep class. The heart of the work was classes 3, 4, and 5, children of about eight to eleven, and she taught up to class 10, about age sixteen. She taught at Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, Ranchi. She had wanted to be a doctor. Teaching became the work of her life.
If the students love you, they will automatically love your subject.
She has written about those years in The last two days.
Studies
She holds a B.Ed. and an M.A.
In public
In 2020 she appeared in #ThankYouTeachers, a film made for Nihar Shanti Amla by BBH India and directed by Niyantha Shekar. It was a portrait of teachers learning to take the classroom online.
